Yeah. We have kin in food service. Interesting that they have no trouble staying employed… though they do find themselves walking down the block to find their next job when some manager gets to be too much. And my son, who’s a short order cook has a pretty large amount of disdain for the folks who want to start the job at the top, take breaks any time their phone rings and treat customers as an inconvenience. Just because he’s working overtime because they’re short a cook does NOT mean that the next person through the door should be hired…

We can’t eat at the restaurant we’re used to? First World problem.

The work ethic of mainstream America has been spiraling down the toilet for years.

Not true, Poor & middle class have been working 2 & 3 jobs just to keep up. You couldn’t live on the minimum wage for food service workers

Pay decent wages, like is done in Europe, and you would not have problems of this sort.

Pretty sure you should be looking at the management and pay practices of the places whining about not being able to find workers. I haven’t gone out much, more to save money for a big trip, but when I have, the place I’ve gone haven’t had any problems with staffing.

Everyday more confirmation about how spoiled and whiny Americans are. Especially those people who aren’t experiencing any meaningful hardship. Momentary inconvenience is not actual hardship or persecution. Stop acting like it.

If these establishments paid their workers a decent wage, they wouldn’t have a problem with staffing. For the first time in ages, workers actually feel that they have power. And that “making a living” and “having a life” shouldn’t be mutually exclusive.
