The Republican Party of Trump wants it to be illegal to teach anything about Juneteenth and why it is celebrated.

I put my flag out in honor of Juneteenth.

Galveston, Texas was the birthplace of Juneteenth. And Texas recognized it as a holiday. Ironically, the Texas GOP has introduced a platform that denies Biden’s victory, declares open season on guns (in the face of Uvalde), requires repeal of the Civil Rights Acts, and other rightwing-MAGAt-Trump-fascist tropes. And it includes secession as a goal for Texas, too. (Maybe that last plank isn’t such a bad idea, although Trump couldn’t be Texas’ president then. Maybe Trump could be the Texas president instead?)

That Jim Crow 2.0 reference is looking dumber than it did when bumbles spewed it out of his lying mouth. GA elections saw a huge increase in voting, including among African Americans. Longer early voting period seems to have been helpful. Hey, and nobody died of dehydration while waiting in line for 15 minutes while only white people had water. :P

Abbott wants that job

I grew up in a small Texas town. We had two summer picnics that the whole town attended. One was Juneteenth, the other was the Fourth of July. The Juneteenth one was held in a really beautiful old park in a part of town that I was otherwise unaware existed. The other was held in the newer park, no where near as nice. I think southerners had a very strange attitude toward the Negro race. They can be good friends or even love individuals, but they are afraid that the race as a whole is trying to take over the world, and they are sure that would be a disaster.

I think we’re working on Jim Crow 3.0 now…
