    Actually, carrots are sentient. Flatworms are sentient. Jellyfish are sentient. “Sentient” means “possessing senses”. The word meant here is “sapient”. I know, I know—the damage is irreparable by now, but I can still be angry about a couple of perfectly good words being lynched.
