When your waiter is floating in air like a ghost because he doesn’t have any legs, I would think having a stiff drink off the bat would be the perfect choice.
Normally it’s more like “What would you like have to drink?”, but it’s been a long day and the server is worn out. Perhaps he accidentally expressed what he was thinking of for himself. (It’s time for him to go home or go on vacation.)
