What I think the Dems need is a strong positive message. Remembering that the average voter can keep UP TO TWO talking points in mind at the same time. NOT “anything but Trump” which did seem to work, but it’s a tactic not a strategy.
As far back as Reagan, I think, Democrats have allowed themselves to be defined by Republican strategists as the party of “sweetness and light.” Or maybe even as far back as Nixon, whose tight, effective use of media advisors helped change his loser image (See “The Selling of the President 1968”).
The Stevenson presidential campaigns of the 1950s, especially the second, should have clinched it for Democrats. But the emphasis upon Eisenhower’s likability (“I Like Ike”) and war record overcame the negative aspect of his heart attack while in office.
It may be a tiresome cliche, but it’s true that for the most part: Republicans play chess whereas Democrats play checkers. Or, the R’s are better at interpreting cultural chicken entrails.
Yep deport the foreigners going back to the first Europeans, (and subsequent offspring) the indigenous folks will be eternally grateful. That includes Squiggles
I wish I could dispute the contention that Democrats are milquetoast these days. But aside from an occasional moment of energy that quickly passes, they kinda are.

Agree with Ted on this one.
Democrats’ bumper stickers end with “… continued on next bumper sticker”.
.
But then, Republicans are incapable of comprehension of issues longer than one bumper sticker.

Democrats have been trying to run as “Republican-Lite” since Bill Clinton. Worked then. Doesn’t now.
