I don’t really get umbrellas. Their sole purpose is to keep you dry when it rains, and they don’t do that. If you’re lucky, they’ll keep your head dry, but all of your clothes still get soaked. And yet, people still not only carry them around, but also suggest that I must not have thought ahead whenever I fail to have one when it rains. I did think ahead: I thought that I would rather just get rained on than get rained on while holding a stick with a sail on it and fighting against the wind to keep it upright.
