Manchin is doing as he is supposed to do, serving his constituents to the best of his judgement and ability. When you have a party that is proud of “the big tent” you have to recognize that big tent has every viewpoint from socialism to conservatism. Our Founders set up this sort of government with first hand knowledge. They too had to deal with all the views of the spectrum, and used compromise to make our new Nation. Compromise is the way for the Democrats, while Republicans refuse and oppose it, and our Founders.
These are all programs the majority of Americans approve of and the reason they voted for Biden. So why is it this person can throw a monkey wrench into it and pave the way for an authoritarian political party to take control of the government?
Actually, our founding “fathers” were opposed to the very concept of “political parties”. I’m not exactly sure how they expected decisions were to be reached, but they definitively did not expect “political parties” to be the answer to any question in the political spectrum.
In actuality, “political party” has turned out to be the answer to a question NOBODY HAS ASKED. Especially as regards the “republican party”, which has proved that it is an answer to a “question” which no one has EVER ASKED – EVER!
Manchin isn’t doing anything for the voters in West Virginia. He is just giving the worthless rich what they want or don’t want. As I’m sure Manchin says this every day when he gets out of bed; “Screw the voters, they aren’t putting any money in my pockets”
