Beau of the Fifth Column has an insightful video on the sanctions (don’t have time to go looking for the link). In short, he says that while the sanctions aren’t stopping the invasion immediately, and while they may not result in Putin going down, they will shorten the war. Essentially, they are already reducing Russia’s ability to replenish supplies, to buy more weapons. They’ve blown through far more of their military equipment than they expected, and they are finding it harder and harder to Re supply.
Beau notes that countries with heavy sanctions on them may not change their regimes, but neither are they military powers.
I should think that dropping planeloads of Milli Vanilli tapes/CDs and AOL/Netscape/Prodigy/MSN discs would paralyze Russia under a deluge of debris of the Best of the West….
Can we send patrick murphy, loony squiggles, montana bill, rikitikirussianbot, klemubermoron, ammosexuallydysfunctional, opspecial ed, JAwholikesbluegrass, jane b thinkin’ VERY ignorantlee, 60 rottenbuzzardbrains adhered to a scorching sidewalk, sammy ugly avatar, leonarddonk back to his homeland?
One would think.. lessons learned about sanctioning Cuba since 1960, North Korea since.. forever, Iraq… is that all sanctions accomplish is to keep the peasants without.

Um. Oil & Gas would do it. As long is it was a tight embargo.

Yeah, I’ll have to admit, sanctions are not working. Look at North Korea. Are sanctions working there? Yet, there seems no sensible alternative.

Putin’s former chief economic advisor said that a total embargo on Russian oil and gas would bankrupt the nation within a month and end the war.

What’s new, the little guy always gets the javelin. The only way to get rid of a tyrant is to rid the world of him.

So AOL installation disks are slipping through?

No, we’re not. As long as the West keeps up its addiction to fossil fuels, Putin will always be able to find a way.
