Glanced is probably much more correct. My husband is still looking for the hammer he “put back where it goes” but seems somehow to be lost for four months now. I say it’s lost. He says it’s not lost. Just misplaced.

It’s where you last used it, and will be found in the last place you look

When my son was very young he would stand at the doorway looking into his room, and say he could find his shoes.

All of us men are “Look Impaired.” I was breaking down a carburetor on my old 1951 Ford tractor the other day. I could not fine that stupid float valve. Looked and looked. Used bad words. Wife was nearby, came over, and picked the fool thing off the tractor seat. Oh, and the tractor still will not start. I fix it as soon as I find the tractor.

My father had a pegboard above his workbench with the shapes of all the tools painted on it. And if you used one of them, you had better put it back in the right place. The bench was originally in my grandfather’s cellar, then moved to our house. My brother took it to his house last summer, along with all the tools. Family heirlooms!

My hammer, as well as an assortment of other tools, plus a whole lot more, ends up in my younger son’s room, known as the permanent disaster zone.
