I saw this when it first came out on TV when I was 12 0r 13 in Black and White. You are correct that Death is depicted in very dark Red clothing. However that just must have been his Christmas outfit, instead of his traditional black hooded cape……

I got tired of searching for it and finally bought the DVD. This version and Bill Murray’s “Scrooge” are my favorites.
