The plan should stand or fall on its own merit. Lets look at the plan and its “earmarks”. Does it or does it not contain more pork than things actually likely to stimulate tyhe economy?
If it does (and it does) then send it back until a better one comes along. Other wise we merely have another pork barrel rolling in that will increase our national debt and garner about the same effective benefit as the bank bail out and previous stimulus package. That is to say zilch.
Humph, which has to do with exactly what? Pointing fingers and saying “Well their plan is no better!” improves neither plan.
Try this since you like old sayings, You get as bad a government as you will stand for, and as good a government as you are willing to fight for.
If the plan is full of pork for either side of the aisle (or even bi-partisan pork), make your voice heard against it.
That stopped Bush from using the Bank bail out to help the auto companies, as well as killing the first bank bail out. And can (should) be used again to kill this pork laden bailout bill.
Bydyn, what’s the tangent with government? The shot was at military mission planning, in which I had a good bit of experience. While kensurg’s comment was romantic it should have been regulated to the Boy Scouts.
This comic reminds me of the interview Rachel Maddow had with a republican (I didn’t catch his name) on Friday.
(Paraphrased)
Republican: “This stimulus is too big.”
Maddow: “Well, the problem is too big.”
Republican: “Well, we can have a lot of little stimulus packages, then.”

They remember a joke made last summer at a speech…I guess it’s true that elephants have a good memory.

Bydyn, there’s an old saying in the military for mission tasking … ” what you want to happen, will. What you don’t want to happen, won’t”

It’s only pork if it’s not your state that’s getting it. Call it pork but if it puts people to work isn’t that a good thing?
