EVERY nation has some of this sort of thing in its history. And MANY nations have it ongoing. Expecting the IOC to deal with things other than sport and athletes is expecting too much, I think; though I’d be surprised if they don’t have some restrictions in place (of which the most important, I’m sure, is “reliable about venue and infrastructure” <=> “plenty of funding”. And I’m happy that our government has decided to let our athletes compete in the Olympic games: Athletes at that level SHOULD have that opportunity, regardless of who is hosting the games. It would be good to buy some adverts promoting Uighur issues, perhaps, to put a bit more pressure on the Xi regime.
