Mick refers to Mickey Mantle who was a former New York Yankees baseball player who was known to frequently hit baseballs a long way for home runs. He is one of the most revered former players of all time except to us Red Sox fans to whom he was just another drunken Yankee!
A great movie to learn about the intense rivalry between Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris is ‘61*’. As most baseball fans know, Maris broke the Babe’s record of 60 home runs in one season but the season was longer thus they added the asterisk to his 61 homers.
