The are the OPPOSITION party. Their entire agenda (aside from maintaining power) is to stop the Democrats from doing anything useful. They CLAIM to be the party of law and order, because the folks who still vote for them like that. But they aren’t. Just as they aren’t about family values or budget balancing.
I do wonder if Grosskreutz had been able to use his weapon and stopped Rittenhouse, would those who thought this was an appropriate verdict have supported a self defense plea from Grosskreutz?
Since the end of the Civil War, the Democrats and Republicans slowly changed directions, passed eachother in the dark somewhere in time, until the First World War passed, and the Dems came to represent social & economic change while the Repubs cooled their once-radical ways and fought for austerity and laissez-faire free-enterprise. Today, I see both sides having traveled too far in their respective directions, although the Repubs have out-distanced the Dems in this respect. The Republican party of today has no positive agenda for this country; only a servile fawning at the feet of the wealthy oligarchs who fund their “campaigns”, and who want to replace our system of government with a new updated Constitution, (which THEY have probably already written), based on central authority, controlled by themselves, just like Pierre Laval pulled the strings behind Marshall Petain in France, during 1940-through Spring of 1945. The attempt is coming. (The French hanged Laval before the year was out!)
