It is quite feasible to let mathematicians (and computers) do the work. The result would be provably fair. NATURALLY, no politician can stand that idea. Note that “fair” isn’t much like “traditional”, so it would be reasonable to let an impartial group select the best from a several different generated options. And no politician could stand that idea. So what we have, mostly, is a purely political process that, in this environment, will also be purely partisan. Winners and losers, which is the American way. Too bad. Winners and other winners is better.

Absolute rubbish. The cheating, the lying and restrictive voting legislation comes from the GOP. Hell hath no fury as Republicans scorned at the ballot box. The harm they do unto America and its people, would see them denied at the ballot box unto their demise.

What is funny is all those “nonpartisan” boards that were going to take politics out descended into the same mess.

Congress can’t even pass new voting rights legislation. Without it, they won’t stop gerrymandering, the influx of massive contributions by special interests, restrictions on voting by MAGAstan state governments, etc.?

For too many people, gerrymandering is perfectly fine if it favors their preferred political party and candidates… and intolerable if it doesn’t favor their preferred political party and candidates…

Now some politicians want to turn voting into a complete farce – they’re trying to set State laws that allow them to ignore whatever the voting totals are and instead just pick “winners” as they see fit…
