Lyin’ Mike Lester is at it again. The average American homeowner pays taxes on their unrealized capital gains on their home. For more than 50 years, they paid property taxes that were mostly based on the unrealized gains over what they paid in 1965. The house was last assessed just before the housing bubble burst, so for their last decade they paid taxes based on an unrealized “gain” that was already partially lost. It’s a very imperfect system, but it’s the best we can do for the little guys and for average foljs. But Mike Lester’s heart is breaking because similar rules might be applied to Jeff Besos and Elon Musk and the Koches and the Adelsons and Bill Gates and Warren Buffett and maybe even those poor downtrodden Kardashians. Well, perhaps it’s breaking. If he has one.
Serves the 1% right! Hiding their $$$$ to conceal their earnings to avoid taxes…Talk about blatant criminal theft, and for decades they get away with it!
How much does one need? There’s no end to greed…..
The proposal is for those who have had $100 million in income for the prior three years. There are about 700 of these in the US. I’m not shredding any tears for them. Many have accomplished extraordinary things.
But the appearance of the ultra wealthy in our society is telling. This is what other empires have experienced.
And this is where we are in the American empire. Denigration of education. High debts, Failed foreign military adventures. Increases in military expenditures not to defend the national soil, but solely to defend the empire’s “interests.” Blaming immigrants for our ills. This is how empires end.
Yeah, if Jeff and Elon have the kind of money to sent a rocket to space, they got a few bucks to give to Uncle Sam.If they want live here and earn or get the kind of money they do, then fork over some shekels. What greedy bastards, they are.

So why are they gonna be investigating every transaction of $600 and up?

They don’t pay the taxes we have now, and they won’t pay that tax, either. Close the loopholes that allow billionaires to pay NO taxes now.
