Due to population increases, yes, Texas is the only state that picked up TWO new congressional seats. Census reports shows that 95% of the increase was to population gains among people of color.

So the redistricting that was just passed and signed by the governor actually results in the LOSS of one of the two majority Latino districts and elimination of the only majority African American district.

And if you actually look at the surgical precision with which complex lines have been skewed and skewered to compress as many people of color into as few districts as possible (or spread them among white rural areas where they can be diluted into oblivion, it is impossible not to conclude that this was carefully done for the specific purpose of unconstitutional racial exclusion, no matter how much the lying conservatives protest to the contrary.

Multiple lawsuits have already been filed.

You “browns” might live here, but you will not be properly represented. Unfortunately, this is the way it is wherever Repugnicans control the state legislature. Gerrymandering should be abolished immediately!

Texas managed to reduce the representation of minority groups with their redistricting.

No problem is so great that a little gerrymandering can’t fix.

I would favor a requirement that congressional districts follow city and county lines to the extent possible. While gerrymandering within a large city would still be possible, it would really cut down the problem. One nice side effect would be to minimize the number of different ballots that have to be printed each election.

Seems more than fair, essential even. Those immigrants don’t understand how democracy works and would only mess it up if given half a chance. /S
