Taiwan is developing military capabilities to beat back any amphibious and aerial assaults by the People’s Republic of China. They might have tactical neutron bombs. Japan has pledged to defend Taiwan despite the PRC being a major trade partner. Australia would also probably send subs at least. Would the U.S. lend support?
The irony, of course, is that for many years, the US and its allies insisted that Taiwan was not only part of China, but actually the seat of government of all of China, with the mainland “temporarily” in “rebel hands.” (This of course made it impossible to have elections to replace the Kuomintang legislators who continued to rule.)

China will, eventually I think, capture Taiwan. Sad as I am to predict it.

Hope this does’t get America in another 20 year military involvement
