Yeah, there are a lot of people like that. You know the ones. The aunt who pinches your cheeks so hard they hurt or squeezes you so hard you feel as if your ribs cracked. They do the same thing when they great the family dog. You just want to smack those kind of people. They might not mean to be obnoxious, but heavens, they are. You’re doing well not to bite Bob, Fred. Keep up the good work.
I call my middle dog my ambassador of good will, but if you pat the top of his head, he will growl at you and back away. Most folks don’t like it when a 75 pound dog growls at them. All have stopped patting. No one has suffered so much as a scratch.

Man, I forgot to post this earlier but I met a man here in Washington, DC, walking his basset, whom I learned is named Fred and, of course, I mentioned the comic strip and he said he follows it but that his dog isn’t named after it. I offered Fred a small dog treat and he was pleased, hoping for another. Fred’s owner told me he’s read the strip from the beginning, being from Britain. To round out the English discussion, I mentioned that my past four dogs were English springer spaniels. Fred wagged his tail. : )
i really hate people who roughouse a dog bob wasnt doing that but like one of those guys who wanna give you the hard handshake but covid got rid of handshakes at least for me
