Payne and the remumblicans have worked very hard developing their abilities to ignore things unpleasant to their self-centered greed and thirst for power.
No, please forget that the Terrorists won that day. Instead, remember the time that came afterwards, when the entire world was on our side, when the greatest acts of individual bravery, love, selflessness and community were the entire news of the day — when we were at our greatest in our entire history, and everyone was keeping our backs.
But also never forget that we allowed that goodwill, that international love and respect, that mandate to do something good in the world to let a childish little man-child lie us into an illegal invasion and occupation of a sovereign nation unilaterally and threw far too many American and Ally lives to the thresher for the past 20 years, all so Dubya could try, and fail, to get revenge on the Taliban for spanking his Bush-Daddy so badly when he was fake-president.
May we finally be worthy of those who gave all that day 20 years ago, even we don’t seem to have sacrificed much ourselves since then. God bless America, and all decent people everywhere.
We should also Never Forget that Republicans* used the attack in order to totally LIE to ‘justify’ invading Iraq.
Of course, the invasion of Iraq took virtually all of the attention and resources away from Afghanistan, so we abandoned the objectives of invading Afghanistan in favor of Iraq, where the only objective was ‘regime change’. There was NO plan B for either country, nor ANY plan for ‘the day after’ in Iraq.
