When I was returning from “road trips” our cat knew when I was entering town. She kept going back and forth to the window and then sitting on my recliner.

You may smell a stew on your stove. Your dog smells tomatoes, potatoes, carrots, bay leaf, onion, garlic, and the meat. From 3 rooms down the hall.
