Well, I always wondered….now that I’m temporarily without a cat, my throw rugs are stuck to the ceiling. Hmmm

And all this time, I thought it was gravity that kept my carpet from flying up to the ceiling. Silly me!

    Today is:

Summer Leisure Day. I think I can handle that!

National Refreshment Day. I’m good to go on that. There’s lemonade and Gatorade in my fridge.

National Hammock Day, I don’t have a hammock, but my lawn swing is a 3-person one so I can stretch out full length on that (my feet hang over the edge a little, but oh well).

National Mango Day. I don’t have mangoes, but we got some more fresh Georgia peaches yesterday (my brother Mark & I split a box of them), so I’ll have a peach instead.

National Penuche Fudge. I’ve never had that, but it’s supposed to have a maple flavor. I’d rather have a piece of my chocolate fudge. However, I won’t be eating any kind of fudge today.

National Rat Catcher’s Day. National Rat Catcher’s Day on July 22nd commemorates the story of the Pied Piper of Hamelin. The day also provides an opportunity to thank all present-day exterminators.According to the folktale, residents of the German town of Hamelin hired a strangely dressed man to rid their village of rats. The Pied Piper of Hamelin did so by playing his flute. Upon finishing the task, the townsfolk refused to pay — so the Pied Piper returned. Once again, the Pied Piper played his flute while the children followed him. And with the Pied Piper, the children vanished, never to return. While a harrowing tale of revenge doesn’t seem like something to celebrate, someone found a way. Depending on where you live, the day includes festivals and re-enactments. Due to differing dates in stories and poems, Hamelin, Germany, celebrates the day on June 26th. The event consists of a pied piper leading children through the city streets. There’s even Richard the Rat who gets to tell his version of the story.

One of the cats is taking her turn keeping this computer from flying off and another is on my lap keeping me grounded. Two others are on the A/C vents ready to block the cold air from levitating the house when/if it kicks in. And the last was on a bed keeping it from floating away.

My Oliver is using the back of my recliner to, uh, recline, as 3 days ago I removed the top (3rd) stacking table he used as his perch to stop him jumping down onto my PC, me or footrest and then, like a Olympic diving contender, jump up onto his food station. I shudder to think of the vocabulary I spouted as he shook me up worse than Elvis’ hips. He keeps me grounded, as is his catly duty!

For once, Chesney is doing something useful. On another note, saw six robins and a finch while out walking today.

Given the size of that rug, to his puny mass; it will eventually lift him up out of the parking lot and into the-e-e skyyyyyyyyyy….
