As Covid raged, so did the country’s other epidemic. Drug overdose deaths rose nearly 30 percent in 2020 to a record 93,000, according to preliminary statistics released Wednesday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It’s the largest single-year increase recorded.1 day ago
Here’s a thought: what if we treated drug addiction for what it is, an illness? What if we spent less on the drug wars and a little more on rehabilitation? What if we thought a bit more about how we can make our people happy and content with better health care, free and equal education opportunities, better jobs, higher wages, better public transport? Okay, I know that’s more than one thought, but what the hey?

A secondary effect with lethal consequences and fools who instead of getting a hobby self medicate and are lied to about the drugs = early deaths.
