The disconnect between political policies and reality continues to grow and partisanship seems to exacerbate the process. Are collaboration, cooperation, compassion, common goals, and common sense no longer parts of American politics?

Was disappointed in her interview – Been to the border? No, but hasn’t been to Europe either. I expected better.

Rutland is 112 miles from the Saint-Armand border crossing in Canada. Keep those barriers manned.

When she said that, I translated it into republicanese: "She said, “Come to America, we have open borders!”

Too many want a permanent solution, right now. That’s likely why Trump’s simple response was perceived of favorably by so many. The problem is that his solution was not permanent. Since it’s such a political football with views so entrenched, I’m not sure that the will to try and solve it exists.

Trump and the Republicans had four years, spent several billion dollars on a fence that a kid can climb over, and locked people in cages. They left a mess, with everything they touched. Give it some time.

Republicans had all branches of government for years and did nothing to come up with a comprehensive immigration plan. The door swung wide open when ronnie RayGun gave over 1 million amnesty. They won’t fix immigration because they want cheap labor for dangerous jobs for the donors and to use it as a campaign scream.

The VEEP did speak. And she DID ask/tell people not to come. But the greater part of her speech had to do with the need to fix the problems at home, so the prospect of trekking thousand(s) of miles to get to an uncertain welcome doesn’t seem like the best idea available.

It’s a little more nuanced than simply, “Do not come”. In a news conference alongside Guatemalan President Alejandro Giammattei, she warned against illegal migration to the US, saying: “Do not come. Do not come. The United States will continue to enforce our laws and secure our borders.”She added: “If you come to our border, you will be turned back.”Ms Harris said she wanted the US and Guatemala to “work together” to find solutions to “long-standing problems”.She said people must be given a “sense of hope that help is on the way”.“It must be coupled with relationships of trust. It must be coupled with tangible outcomes, in terms of what we do as leaders to convince people that there is a reason to be hopeful about their future and the future of their children,” Ms Harris added.President Giammattei defended his government’s own record of fighting corruption and said the fight against drug trafficking should be an key part of tackling the issue. He announced a new processing centre for migrants who had been sent back from the US and Mexico and said that the focus for both countries should be on creating prosperity. this so the GOP can say, “see how wise we were to tear children from their parents as a deterrent? now look.”

It is past time to drop the B.S. title and call them who they are: REFUGEES! No different from those fleeing oppression in Cuba whom we welcomed with open arms. The only arms these refugees see are those carried by the Border Patrol and the Military patrolling the border.
