Good morning TRIBE! I think my ladylove is planning to clean my coffee pot again (leave my bleeping coffee pot alone). I found a hardware receipt for a hammer and chisel.

Cleo if you’re really in the mood to mow a lawn, you can come and do mine. We’ve had a few nice days so I think it’s dry enough. I can only do it on my days off, and who knows if the weather will hold that long, although it is supposed to. I may have to get a big machete and hack my way through it. Carmy may I borrow yours?

Just the thought of all that work is making me sleepy again, so I’ll go for a nap. I have to work again tonight. BOOO HISS.

Float break sounds great! Trying to get the apartment tidied up, pest patrol is coming tomorrow. I swear, some ‘landlord’ types expect every apartment to be up to Martha Stewart loveliness and tidiness. They spray this ‘bait’ and advise us not to use anything else. I swear the bugs just eat the bait and grin. Sigh

Good afternoon! Cleo - I had to ask my exhausted hubby last night, if he’d put the new belt on the lawn mower that evening. With the help of our 20 year old son, and about 2-3 hours of labor, they were successful. Now, if the rains will give me a break this week, I need to mow! Since we’ve got an out-of-town wedding next weekend, I realized if he didn’t fix the mower this weekend, it would end up being a month in-between cutting. This time of year, I’d have a jungle.

I can’t say I’m up on what sort of tests they do in the public schools here, but I think from reading our local district’s newsletter, it is probably more like a week’s worth. Since our family has always homeschooled, we aren’t required to do any tests for the government. We do have the option of taking standardized tests, and so my boys have done that several times (but only once per year, and not always every year.) Of course, they have to score high enough on one of the tests the college will accept. The oldest is already going to our local community college, and the youngest will start in the fall.

Cleo - It will take a little longer this time, but well worth it. My hubby cut off the low hanging branches of the thorn trees that were bothering me. However, since the lawn mower broke in the process of hauling them off to our brush pile to burn, I didn’t get them all hauled off. My parents (not sure whether it was Dad or Mom) built a little trailer to hook on the back of the riding lawn mower. It really comes in handy for hauling stuff around 5 acres! I think I have some other stuff I want to move around too, just haven’t decided where to move it all TO. What I hate (besides the way it looks) when it gets so tall, is that the insects get so much worse. I’ve noticed the years that we keep it mowed more often, the ticks & chiggers populations seem to be much lower. The mosquitoes - well, it is harder to tell, but probably so too. Of course, I don’t like the increase of mice, rats, & snakes that also hang around if the grass is long.

Cleo - But I’m sure you do a lot more weeding & edging than I do, because I don’t do ANY. The weed eater is really too heavy for me to feel comfortable handling it. Usually, if I can’t mow it with the riding lawn mower or the walk-behind, that’s fine. If we’re planning an outdoor party, my hubby will weed eat around the deck.

Doc, if you can lose kitties in the grass then you have to be careful when you mow. My grass stays short, no longer than 3 inches, otherwise it chokes my mower. When you live in the PNW, things never get really dry.

Hello everyone too many to list names. I also wish Serena a HAPPY BIRTHDAY TODAY. I have an aunt my mom sister has a birthday as well we went to celebrate with her and she is in Clearwater Assisted Living Care Home. Her husband can’t he passed on suddenly this past year. She is 87 years young. Clearwater, KS is also having HS graduation. We had a nice light rain now the sun is out. My mom’s lawn needs mowed real bad my husband has to get a battery for it. She has a hugh yard and sometimes she complains about being so big I just tell her I wish ours where.

Terry - I’m just glad you could figure out the problem and get the necessary parts. I knew (being the wise mom I sometimes am) that I had to let my son know how much his help was appreciated with repairing the lawn mower. He is so much more limber than us old folks, has better eyesight, and is stronger. I told him that there was a sign at the lawn mower place where I bought the new belt, that there is a $65 @ hour charge for their mechanics. So, not that we’re paying him, but at least our son is realizing how much money we saved by he & his dad doing the repair. (Especially because his finger injury was mild enough to not require professional medical attention.)

Hello again I looked at the comic strip from this morning better, and it reminds of Souper Salad. There is only one here in Wichita east the west side closed now a medical center. Now to me that was eatting.

Our yard here is not that big so neighbors are closer but not that friendly. So we are pretty much to ourselves. My mom’s yard has a lot of sandburs and stickers. Used to be an orchard ages ago before my time. How the town has grown. Now I consider where my mom lives more mid-town to downtown since the building keeps growing. Some retails haven’t survived.

Grog I normally clean up before the pest people, but about this time last year I wasn’t feeling up to par. About a week after the ‘service’…..I got a letter that basically said ‘clean up or we boot your bleeep out’. It wasn’t really that bad!!!

And I’m gonna put my sign up that says ‘Cat’ on my bedroom door. Of course I don’t have a cat, but I don’t want ‘em poking around and claiming my beadwork shelves are excessive ‘clutter’ and full of ‘rocks’. Probably by the time they service again I will have a cat.

Anyway, I’m probably signing off for the night, I have the kitchen stove and floor left (floor’s not too bad) and then relaxing. Ya’ll take care now, hear?

RMom I have a cordless weed eater from Black and Decker. Uses rechargeable battery and not too heavy. I like not having to drag a cord and it’s a LOT quieter than gas powered. Auto cord feed and can turn head to whack or edge.

My cousin was having some work done in his garage and his wife wanted to make sure the workers didn’t go in the house. So, she posted the following note on the door. Earl: Be careful when you go in. Johnny’s snake has escaped AGAIN.

Rmom for Clearwater the family lives near there out by the family farm, acutally not far from us here. My mom is 85 and hollers if she gets BD cards but when she does she is happy she rather we call or come by. Her sister who turned 87 today doesn’t have to much of a mind she was 4 years older then her late husband and he could no longer care for her. Well the last of my show is coming to an end so I better end then bed time. I have an interview. There are a lot of people 30 min each. One of the question is what is your weakest strengths to greatest strengths and that gets hard to answer. This is for an office position.

Terry - What is sad is that when my husband married me, he joked that he was marrying me for my memory. (Which used to be quite good.) Now my memory is worse than his! Just this morning I wanted to talk to a lady I’ve known for probably 20 years, and very well. Could NOT think of her first name for the life of me, so I had to walk fast enough to catch up and touch her to get her attention. An hour or so later, I could think of her name. This is becoming a frequent occurance for me, which isn’t comforting, to say the least!

Yes, Rmom, but sometimes the amount of “things” we try to remember or how much we have going on has a lot to do with what is remembered and what isn’t. Don’t fret it yet. You’re still young enough that it is not an issue, I’m sure. :^)

Terry - I know, I keep telling my sons that my mental hard drive is getting full, and do they know how to defrag it, and put in a faster processor? I’ve heard that just forgetfulness is okay. It is when you can’t figure out what stuff is used for, that you’ve got a problem. Like losing your keys is normal. Having your keys, but not understanding how to use them is a problem. Probably what bothers me the most is that I can tell my mind & body is deteriorating at an younger age than my parents’ did.

Rmom, something is going to get the best of us as we get older. I look to my wife’s mom for inspiration. She seems unhindered by anything, unlike my wife, who has her spinal cord injury. I know for a fact, that if my wife didn’t have her injury before I met her we would not be together now. I have a tough time keeping up with her. Just think what she was like pre-injury. Her whole family, including her kids are like super athletes…and I am a super couch potato.

I’ve decided that I need to practice driving under the speed limit about 7 miles per hour and weaving slightly.

I was following a person who was doing that and elected not to try to pass in case they were inebriated or a student driver. I figure if someone can’t stay in their lane or drive the speed limit I do not want to pass them. (I of course will be staying in my lane just weaving slightly.)

What is up with people who speed up when you go to pass them? They will be driving ten miles under the speed limit. When an opportunity comes up to pass and they notice you trying suddenly they are driving 10 miles over the speed limit.

LUVH8 When I used to drink and smoke pot, I thought I had the right to drive when I could not walk. I used to drive way under the speed limit and use the double yellow line as a guide. The benefit of this is that the police would see me and throw my drunken self in jail to protect the people, pets and property of others. Sometimes they would keep me there for extended periods to teach me a lesson. Unfortunately, I was a slow learner.

Passing a drunk is not suggested. He may take offence and try to right the wrong of being passed, Or they may just be startled and yank there wheel to the left, Either could be a disaster.

I recommend slowing down and speaking to your friendly neighborhood police on your cell. They are more than happy to remove said drunk from the road.

Oh, Officer —- who took me off the road the last time I drank. They threw me in jail for a year and took my licence for life (5 years government time). God Bless you. Who knows who I might have killed. There is some pregnant grandma pushing a baby carriage who will not be hit by this ex-drunk. Jail time is great for behavior modification.

Doc - Believe me, I do understand! My husband is a horrible speller, and so there have been many instances where the meaning I read is vastly different from what he intended. His spelling is so bad, that years ago, I compiled a shopping list on the computer, and got it laminated. Then we just use a Vis-a-Vis marker to check off the items I need to buy the next time I go shopping. Other than needing to revise it every so often, it works really well, even for those of us who can spell. So much faster to make a check mark, than to write out the item.
