I’m guessing that “taking him to the store” also involved the family chauffeur, as she’s too young to drive, and he probably shouldn’t.
My mother’s grocery store did this for her. No more than one or two items in a bag. Then she would take her time making many, many trips from the car to the house, cane in one hand, a single bag in the other.
