what is this nonsense? Is there some Biden quote after the verdict that I missed or is Ramirez trying to downplay a momentous result for equal justice?

What, Mr. Ramirez, you believe all issues of systemic racism are now resolved in the U.S.?

Justice prevailed.. there really was no other choice. BUT.. to watch the crowds cheering was kind of scary.. Not too hard to imagine this same crowd cheering at a hanging, a burning at the stake.. beheadings; or any of the other sports we read about in history books. Seems we have not progressed much

Racism will never be totally wiped out, but we can and still should try to remove it from the mainstream of society and keep it at its fringes.

Tucker Carlson: Public support for George Floyd is an ‘attack on civilization’

On Fox News Tuesday night, Tucker Carlson did not appear to be pleased with the guilty verdict against former Minneapolis cop Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd.

Indeed, according to Carlson, the jury was tainted by fear of riots if they did not convict, and the public outpouring of support for Floyd amounts to an “attack on civilization.”

“The jury in the Derek Chauvin trial came to a unanimous and unequivocal verdict this afternoon: Please Don’t Hurt Us,” said Carlson. “The jurors spoke for many in this country, and everyone understood perfectly well the consequences of an acquittal in this case. After nearly a year of burning and looting and murder by BLM, that was never in doubt. Last night, 2,000 miles from Minneapolis, police in Los Angeles pre-emptively blocked roads. Why? They knew what would happen if Derek Chauvin got off.”

The president of the top police union in the United States told CNN that he supports the verdict in the Chauvin case, calling the conviction “justified.”

“In the end he didn’t get off,” continued Carlson. “If given the maximum sentence under the law, he will spend the rest of his life in prison. Is that a fair punishment? Is the officer guilty of the specific crimes for which he was just convicted? We can debate all that, and over this hour, we will. But here’s what we can’t debate. No mob has the right to destroy our cities. Not under any circumstances, not for any reason. No politician or media figure has the right to intimidate a jury. And no political party has the right to impose a different standard of justice on its own supporters.”

Racist Republican will always listen to that Tucker on lying Fox.

Where is loser Trump to give Chauvin a pardon when he needs one?

Absolutely correct, this verdict ultimately changes nothing. America is still totally enmeshed with systemic and personal racism.

Right-wing media erupts in incoherent rage after Derek Chauvin is found guilty

With nationwide emotions running high following the conviction of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin for the murder George Floyd, right-wing media reacted in opposite fashion to the general public, attempting to infuriate followers and lash out at the verdict.

Many on the right, both in media and politics, invoked conservatives’ word of the year, suggesting that the trial was “rigged” or impacted by “mob rule.” Other, more “mainstream,” conservative figures complained about the remarks made by President Biden and Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., who praised the verdict and called for a broader push for racial justice.

Some of the most shocking remarks came late on Tuesday night during Fox News host Laura Ingraham’s program, where right-wing YouTuber Brandon Tatum made an incoherent case for a sinister conspiracy, suggesting that the media aims to have Black people confront police in order to be shot in exchange for a large payoff.

As per usual, Ramirez puts the worst seeming possible spin on whatever Biden says.

PS: Yeah, the system is still racist and this outcome is approximately one in 2000. I hope it has some good effect, but have no hope at all that it will solve the problem.

If you want EQUAL justice when are the people who did the rioting, vandalizing, looting, destruction, assaulting, and killing since George Floyd was killed going to be arrested, charged, tried, and convicted in a court of lay?
