How is it that the Chauvin trial is going on for as long as it has? He killed Floyd in cold-blood, for 9 minutes, for dozens of people to watch unfold. Nonetheless, if he can’t be killed, I hope they still throw him in the giant slammer at the very least.
Actually, Lalo has a great idea here. The police do not need to be “defunded”, the police need to be “DISARMED”!If a T.A.S.E.R. was the most lethal weapon they were allowed to carry, I suspect there would be far fewer killings at the hands of the police.
I understand the use of “death squads” – I have friends in the Philippines who keep me apprised of the workings of Rodrigo Duterte – so what happens in Minnesota and Chicago (and all around the South) really doesn’t surprise me all that much – but we need to get guns out of the hands of the police!

Plus of course, the non-accountability for everything from criminal activities to violating department standards. Look up what a it takes to be a German policeman. Some 19 months of training vs US few weeks. Even their handwriting is analyzed. I know that has gone out of fashion in the US since schools don’t teach handwriting anymore.My best friend for many years was an ex-cop. I have worked with ex-cops. (A large radiator hose doesn’t leave marks on a black person like the 3/4 inch hoses.")Nice confiscated or surrendered or “buy back” programs just get cops some really nice guns. Drugs disappear from evidence rooms quite frequently.And again, how many people are killed “accidently” or other gun incidents at neighborhood Police and Citizens get togethers. I can think of one fatality at one off these meetings in Florida. The cop “didn’’t know his service weapon was loaded”. He killed a lady who was afraid of cops. Her friends and children persuaded her to go to the meeting.
Cops need to be armed, especially in our current gun culture. A 13 year old black teenager was chased then shot dead when he stopped and raised his hands. No evidence of a gun on or near him. Bang, your dead!
