Parties have a lot of things that people mostly like. Zoom calls have some of those things (and a couple of others, such as recordings). But they are also missing a lot of things such as pheromonal feedback and other forms of rich human interaction. Some days I’m willing to accept the 25% that’s available on Zoom. Some days I’m not.
A nurse has just recovered after 111 days in hospital. She missed a lot of parties, even on zoom. This is not to mention the 500,000+ who will miss parties forever and their families who hardly feel like partying in any form.
The shots protect you, the masks protect the people around you, doing both helps keep COVID cases out of hospitals. I doubt it will be defeated like polio and smallpox, and nearly measles.
We’ve been having socially distanced parties out in our yard (or at the park) with up to 8 friends over these months (grateful for San Diego weather). Zoom has been cool, too, but learn to adapt.

No one is keeping you in your ‘little box’. If you wish to get out with friends do it, but do it safely.

BWAWHAWHAWHAWHAW! It’s funny because Theodore has taken a stale, year old social phenomenon and made it feel fresh!

The modern version of “Hollywood Squares”…

Oddly, I’m OK. Is it weird I felt a relief not to have to go to any weddings for over a year?

I prefer virtual parties to real ones because it’s easier to do an Irish farewell online than in person. You don’t have to plot your escape route.
