If you stand in one place long enough, it does.
I always took that saying as a warning for vigilance. Like when you turn your back on something on the stove, it boils and ends up all over the stove. Nothing in the saying says it’s water.
I’m pleased to say I’ve never been that bored.
Twice in my life I watched a pot until it boiled. When I was a kid, and a couple years ago. Same both times. I’m 76.
