Whether Republican or Democrat, everyone is entitled to a fair investigation. Instead, Republicans ignore allegations against their own and wait for constituents to decide their fate; and Democrats push their own out of office without an investigation (see Al Franken and Katie Hill) as they pretend to have a moral high ground.
I am alwaysskeptical with any type of accusation that is based on one person charging another with something that has no way of being proved. It comes down to who the public or jury believes. Usually it is decided by a overwhelming number of people making the same accusation but sometimes it’s one person’s word against the others. Nobody’s career or good name should ever be decided on that basis. Sometimes the charges alone are enough to destroy a person.
He needs to resign and get a full investigation. Resign to make it possible to govern at all… and in case the allegations are true, to keep him from abusing his power. And get a full investigation to give him a fair “trial” in case the allegations are overblown or otherwise invalid.
