A local radio ad uses the quote from Jefferson supporting the 2nd amendment; "A free people ought not only to be armed, but disciplined. … Thomas Jefferson, letter to James Madison, January 30, 1787 … it will be necessary to assemble them once or twice in the course of a year.”
Isn’t that the National Guard?
The funny thing is this ad is for a GUN SHOW! I wonder if they’ll hone their military skills while shopping….
The Second Amendment to the Constitution doesn’t mean what it did in 1776. Word usage and meanings change subtly over time. The amendment suggests a citizen army, like Israel or Switzerland. As Packratjohn mentioned what Jefferson envisioned.
I keep reading that since Biden became president all these people have suddenly lost all their freedoms. When asked which freedoms, all you hear is the crickets in their heads.

None of those militias are well regulated, but their members insist that they have the right to shoot at will…

I suspect most of them initially begin as ‘Freak Out Squad’ members and then devolve into other groups. Sad, really.
