The last mile is the hardest, and unfortunately was overlooked by the previous administration. With the sheer numbers of patients and the logistics involved, please have some patience! And possibly emulate WV with its impressive results.
Here’s the thing: There are literally millions of ways to “do” the vaccination, and probably more than half of them would work just fine. But what does NOT work is trying to ramp up from zero without any training, without any well thought out system, without (alas) enough of the vaccine. And that problem is mostly on the 45th administration. Not entirely, but states were already running way over budget because of the pandemic and then #45 said “just do it” at them without any funding, without any federal blueprints. Nothing. Some states managed pretty well, all things considered, some states have done the best they can, but have failed to fulfill their hopes. Some are STILL winging it. My under-70 year old brother and his wife, in GA have already gotten both their doses. Oregonians, on the other hand, are being categorized to a fare-the-well and doing things by county. Folks in our county aren’t even allowed to sign up to get a notification of availability until AFTER the age bracket drops to their level. In the county next door, you can sign up at any time… if the website is up; and in the other direction, there’s no website at all (that I can find): CALL them and if you get through, they’ll hand-enter you into the database. My son, in yet another county in the “red” part of the state has simply given up trying to find out anything. He’s operating on hope and grit.

You got your governor, we got ours – and we won’t trade.
