Nothing wrong with “adopting” an adult. About 10 years ago a server at a small family owned restaurant “adopted” my husband and me to be her parents. She is the best daughter in the world. Her husband is wonderful (she wasn’t married when we met and my husband officiated at her wedding) and the grandkids are terrific. I could not have picked a better family! Sometime the blood relatives are the most toxic so I see no reason not to pick the family of your choice.
