Scottish Terriers have that coarse terrier fur that protects them from all sorts of inclement weather, Bassets not so much (or hardly at all). We had a Scottie that didn’t mind being out in the rain or snow at all. They definitely are made of sterner stuff, as Fred is thinking.

Well Jock is from Scotland where there are cold climates there during the winter so I guess he had been there before.
