Indeed. ‘Open for business is the mantra of the businesses and the conservatives who, although they don’t wish to spend money and subsidise people through sensible polices, still want everything open. Death, of course is as opportunistic as any other business and sees an opening. Doing a roaring trade, thanks to stupidity and ignorance.
My own take: If you’re opening your gym, restaurant, other inside venue without a lot of ventilation and careful filtering of the air, or / and with unmasked people in close proximity, then you’re no different than a drunk driver. If you don’t kill someone, it’s just because of luck, not planning. In Oregon, some restaurants are flouting the closure rules, and racking up fines for doing so. I have commented elsewhere: “As long as they’re going to be going out of business anyway, they figure they might as well go out while KILLING people.” … and I stand by it.
