In all my years on a tech support desk, never did I have a call like this. It is very sweet of Spider to hang on, but it’s really gonna mess with his metrics.
I admit to being jealous that the spider’s phone job allows such leeway. As I work for an answering service and our clients pay for a certain number of minutes per month, that level of being present for their callers (with no obvious benefit to their bottom line) would not be good for client retention.

Even when you don’t have the courage to speak, it’s reassuring to know someone is willing to listen. Some day, the caller may be able to speak out.
