‘Terrific’ 15% of Americans have had COVID-19 -Trump
“I hear we’re close to 15 percent. I’m hearing that, and that’s terrific,” Trump said, apparently referring to the theory of herd immunity. Herd immunity refers to a situation where enough people in a population have immunity to an infection to be able to effectively stop that disease from spreading. Some 70% of the U.S. population of 330 million would need to be inoculated to achieve “herd” immunity from the virus. Trump delivered the remarks at the top of a White House summit on vaccine development and distribution just before signing an executive order intended to ensure priority access for COVID-19 vaccines procured by the U.S. government is given to the American people before assisting other nations.
I’m thinking that “You cannot get vaccinated while not wearing a mask” is perfectly reasonable and proper. And that it will impact pretty much nobody: The ones who won’t mask won’t want the vaccine either, right? Then MAYBE we’ll start to see the Darwinian effect that I’ve been wishing would kick in.
I tried to convince my RN son that covid patients should have to explain how they got it. If they were essential workers, they should be given the best treatment available. If they got it attending a party or rally, they should be stacked in the parking lot until everyone else who needed a bed was taken care of. He thought that was a little extreme until he wound up in one of those beds.

With a face like that, a mask might improve things for him.
