Note: Becerra is now the CA Attorney General, but he also has legislative experience and was one of the people who worked on and pushed the Affordable Care Act.
So far from a progressive standpoint his one good appointment, which means that if the Gruesome Old Party keeps its majority in the Senate he’ll never be more than an acting secretary. Give voters in Georgia a really good reason to vote Democratic, Mr. B.
Let us discuss what crisis we have. It is a legal crisis. It is the systematic refusal of health care to a significant portion of the population by one party in particular — the Republican Party — which has used every legal means available to them to kick people off the ACA, to kill the ACA — in the middle of a pandemic! — and to make health care for all an in achievable goal. Our medical personnel and facilities are overburdened, true, but that is because of the legal maneuvering by Republicans. On another note, just how many field-specific experts did the current administration put in its cabinet positions? Oh yeah, none! Just people with conflicts of interest determined to destroy the agencies they were supposed to run.
Leadership and management abilities are more important in the Secretary position than anything else. Becerra seems to have these, as well as experience in fighting for the ACA. He will be welcome to many working in HHS.
Becerra is fresh off his defeat on the CA ballot initiative to force Uber drivers to become employees vs. remaining independent contractors. California Democrats had the good sense to say ‘no’ to Becerra’s personal vendetta.

Is there anyone in the current Cabinet that we could trust?

Ohman is apparently not pleased that Biden selected someone with no medical background to head HHS.

Its a shame we have to wait for a new president before the country will start acting on covid. Republicans don’t care if you die.

Becerra is as leftist as they come. Banker Biden is covering all his progressive bases.
