In church plays, I was either a shepherd or the bad thief on the cross. In a production, I was “The Waif.” 3 years later in a school play, I was “The Urchin,” which was only distinguishable from the Waif because the Urchin did not have a big rip in his pants showing skin. Ok, in those days that was seen as cute an innocent.
