For dogs it’s definitely not a linear relationship (straight line) – it’s more of a negative exponential curve – an immediate, steep rise, tapering off over time. Dogs ain’t got a great sense of the passage of time – the first few minutes seem like an eternity.

It’s funny, but entirely untrue in regards to the 3 cats we’ve had. Each of them missed us a lot when we were gone.
