I live in the capital of my state, where the dept of corrections is headquartered. The DOC keeps dumping former inmates here because they can’t get homeless services in their home county, which is often rural. They can’t get apartments even if they have social security coming in because of ubiquitous criminal background checks. Our brilliant mayor allowed the homeless to setup camp in city parks because of the pandemic. It’s created a real mess with winter approaching.
