Hide behind the bible … twist the teaching of Jesus (we will not even go into if he existed or not) use it to pontificate … Funny how well you have learned the lessons of the church.
Fear + Control + Money = Shheple like Irish
You keep praying to that kindly old gentleman in the sky …. It may be your only source of comfort if you spew this kind of hate at those around you on a daily basis.
IEOH, you pray in public and repeat it over and over again, just like the pharisians who were agains Jesus, the “I am holier than thou” croud of his day.
agreed eddy - not everybody condones abortion or gay marriage.
but, you won’t find very many who believe that a woman should be disallowed choice.
if i find a politician who thinks the way i do, or one who thinks the way you do, we can all be very afraid. but our votes count. we elected our senators.
How do we know that this cartoonist is implying God speaking, isn’t St. Peter or someone at the gates? It could very possibly be him.
And posting comments is not the place to judge others, i’m not gonna say any names-cough-ohara-cough, thou shalt not judge lest ye be judged or something like that… right?
Jesus also said “love your enemies.” That’s the part people seem to have trouble with.
And Irish, I don’t know your views on capital punishment, euthanasia, and war, but I know the Church’s view: all bad.
I believe Senator Kennedy took his faith very seriously in what he did. That’s why he worked so hard for the marginalized. That’s why he could also hold his head up even after his errors, because he knew that God does not condemn but seeks our love and our love of others.
As motive says, Jesus focused on loving our enemies and caring for the poor. Those are the things we find far too uncomfortable to deal with, so we find targets to attack (gays, for example) in the name of righteousness.
However, I’ll give to the RC church that they oppose the death penalty every bit as much as abortion. And the RC College of Cardinals and the Vatican did condemn the war in Iraq before the invasion and after.

Irish, are you volunteering to take care of a baby a mother wants to abort? Do your good deed and take a few of these kids.

Getting back to Senator Kennedy, he did fight the good fight for the disadvantaged who needed health care, among many other things.

cdward, quite right - and when Dubya met with the Pope, he was told the Iraq war was a bad idea. Dubya didn’t like that. God didn’t tell him that.
