Uh oh! This isn’t the first time you’ve gotten in trouble for that. The dears should understand that it’s much easier for you to dig in dirt that has already been pre-dug. The temptation is just too great. Oh well.
Our first dog, Penny, was still a pup when I saw her industriously digging a hole in the garden. I squatter down beside her and tapped her on the shoulder. She looked at me, licked me on the nose, and, immediately, returned to her digging. At this point I realised Penny was half dog and half JCB.

I thought that Basset Hounds were prone to digging. If you look at the shape of their paws they appear to have been bred to dig.
