We would have been better off if this was completely true. Instead he and his minions/handlers made it worse by dismantling the system that was in place to take care of pandemics, actively fought the medical community through action and example, and wouldn’t allow the federal government to take the lead in combating a national crisis because he thought it was only hurting his political rivals. He is beneath contempt.
