“I’m sorry about that, dear, but look at the bargains I got at the mall!”

On the other end the boss: “We’ve downsized so I’ll need you to pick just a few additional functions” ;)

The Internet in California is currently saturated with deceptive ads sponsored indirectly by Uber and Lyft to repeal laws which currently make companies responsible for their workers, rather than making them “independent contractors”. “Gig” work sounds promising until you start talking to your friends about it and you are all competing for the same slice of a finite “pie”. The companies would like that to continue because it keeps wages down and they don’t have to pay benefits nor guarantee you work. The facts are, if the company controls how you operate, they should be responsible for continued employment with a livable wage and hours. Otherwise, hundreds of thousands of independent contractors will starve together.

“Or, every man’s dream, I got laid… … off!”

I don’t believe that one little byte.

Now that’s a positive attitude.
