So the department store Lord & Taylor filed for bankruptcy. I’ve never shopped there. Even tho I’ve bought a lot on line since the pandemic started, I still prefer to wander around an actual store. Including grocery stores. Someday…
I picked my first sweet corn of the season on Saturday and I ate some for dinner Saturday night. I had 6 ears left in my fridge and they were calling to me on Sunday night. Now I have 3 ears left in my fridge. I’ll be picking more corn on Wednesday after I pick up my car from my mechanic. I’m scheduled to work on Wednesday, but that was the soonest my mechanic could look into the awful noises my car is making lately. So I’ll be using paid time off and calling in on Wednesday to get the car fixed.
National Watermelon Day. But my watermelons won’t be ripe for about a month yet and the ones in the store usually aren’t very good. I’ll wait until mine are ready.
National Grab Some Nuts Day. I have a few cashews around and maybe I’ll grab some of those.
National Georgia Day. I ate my last Georgia peach on Saturday. That’s my way of celebrating Georgia. They were such good peaches! My brother, Daniel & I got some on July first and they were so good, we got another box 3 weeks later. Now I have to wait a little while for the peaches on my peach tree to ripen later this month.
I can’t grow corn here but I love fresh corn season. I grill it, if I get bored with butter I dress it with Mexican spices, or Italian. Or I peel off the kernels and make salad with chilies. When my Dad was alive I would go back to Jersey every summer and enjoy REALLY good corn.
When my brother and BIL visit during the holidays, they swear that they can hear the pie and cake calling from the fridge, late at night. Personally, I don’t believe that. Only cookies can talk.
Well, at least Oliver’s trying to be patient. Chesney would probably tear that bag open to get to the treats immediately. On another note, saw three robins and two rabbits while out walking today.
