Hm. I suspect cdnalor, tony_n_jen2003, and ChessPirate are on the right track, but I’d be more confident if I had any recollection of a specific Tyrone-and-mink-and-hussy storyline in any medium. Flip Wilson’s very popular TV show premiered the same day this strip originally ran; does anyone remember whether he had already established a pimp-like Tyrone character anywhere?
