Magic only requires patience when you’re focused on using it.
We all need a chance to give up now and then. I think I failed at making that soda Tanuki’s drinking in the last panel not look like Pepto-Bismol. Is it the shape of the bottle? The color? Argh! I give up.
Perhaps Tanuki overthinks too much. When his mind is more relaxed, his magic works better.
