Michael’s totally oblivious of how hard Kate works every day, just as she is there.

Well, Michael, first of all, don’t wish your life away. I used to think things like that too: (I wish my children would GROW UP). And suddenly, there you are. Michael, in order to retire you’d better work reallllly hard NOW, get a great job that allows you to retire at ALL, let alone young enough to be a kid again. Now, get crackin’ on that homework!

I still remember all of the guys in my Freshman dorm learning how to take care of themselves, laundry, budgeting, getting to morning classes, etc. About a third of them gave up and went home.

Ha, so funny. Luckily my wife and I had the kids help us do their laundry each time, along with dishes, vacuuming and dusting. When they got older those were chores for them to earn their weekly allowance. Notice the EARN. If they failed to do chores or keep their grades up, clean their own room, my cleaning up was deducted from their allowance. All four kids only failed two or three times in do their chores. Guess their allowance and freedom were important.

You ungrateful little cuss she cooks, cleans, does the washes and puts up with the both of you. She deserves a freaking MEDAL and buckets of appreciation from you and yours sister….along with some help.

I’m so happy that my parents are at least experiencing real retirement. They aren’t having to raise any kids and they worked hard their whole lives to be able to afford to actually retire. It’s sad to see older people who have to work until they die (likely my future) and older people who have taken up the honorable burden of raising someone’s kids.
